We are slowly poisoning our selves

Since I work as an environmental consultant here in Sweden I tend to read and reflect on a lot of different environmental problems. There is a big discussion going on about the greenhouse effect and the rising of sea levels and how that will effect the lives of millions if not billions of people. Unfortunately there is not as much or as unified discussion on the other big threat in this world. We are slowly but surely poisoning this planet. Report after report confirms this in more or less dramatic ways but the evidence is there. In a recent study 7 out of 10 types of flour contained to high levels of heavy metals such as cadmium. Bisfenol-a is used in so many products that it’s going to take years to identify them and forbid them all. Phtalates is so commonly used that we would have to change societies use of plastics all together. There is so many pollutants in our daily lives that we stop reflecting on them, and so they become “normal”. I could write a whole book about this topic but I don’t have the energy this evening. I will however show you a few pictures as usual.

This is just a small part of what this planet has to endure every day. The farmer below is burning plastic wrappings that hopefully was made of polyethylene and not as polluting as it seemed at the time.
